The Torelló City Council commissioned me for a project developed as a cultural and educational initiative promoted by the Department of Culture and Education. The goal was to foster the use and knowledge of traditional and disused Catalan vocabulary among new generations.

The commission consisted of designing and illustrating an educational card game intended for all primary schools in Torelló. The main creative challenge was twofold: on one hand, we needed to create a playful tool that was attractive enough for children, yet featured a strong educational component, to encourage the recovery and use of local Catalan words that were falling out of use. On the other hand, it was essential to find the right visual tone for the illustrations; they had to be clear and suggestive enough to aid in identifying the word, but at the same time neutral or timeless enough to validate the term itself.

The deck was divided into two halves: half of the cards contained the illustration, and the other half contained the corresponding lexical term. The game’s objective was for the user to make the correct association between the visual concept and the term.

The main goal of the project was active linguistic preservation through gamification. This involved creating a memory and association game that would exercise the students’ minds and recover traditional vocabulary, providing a tangible and fun educational resource that would integrate into the daily activities of primary school classrooms, strengthening the sense of community through shared language.
